CAAR Business Breakfast Office and Association Updates

After the mayor’s remarks, CAAR leadership and staff shared important business updates:

Bylaws Approval
CAAR members in attendance voted to approve revised association bylaws. As explained by Clark Jones and others, the prior version had become disorganized after decades of patchwork amendments. A professional parliamentarian was hired to streamline and clarify the document. The updated bylaws clean up redundancy and modernize terminology, including officer titles. Members are encouraged to review the updated version, which will be uploaded to the CAAR website shortly.

Website Launch
President Dennis Riccio announced that CAAR has launched its new automated website. The redesigned platform simplifies membership applications and dues processing and is intended to reduce administrative friction for members. While some features are still being fine-tuned, the platform is fully operational.

Membership and NAR Trends
Riccio also shared insights from the NAR Treasurer, whom he met at the recent region XI conference. NAR’s membership peaked at 1.7 million last year, but is forecasted to drop to 1.2 million by the end of next year. While CAAR’s membership has remained stable, members were advised to remain mindful of potential budget impacts if broader trends continue.

Upcoming Elections
Open seats are available on the CAAR Board of Directors, including the secretary position. This role begins the leadership track through vice president, president, and past president. All members are encouraged to consider a board position.  Members with prior board service are encouraged to consider running for the secretary position.

Community Events and Engagement

From Jackie Rudder, Associate Executive
Jackie introduced herself and emphasized the importance of community engagement. She reminded members about the upcoming annual food drive and announced a Broker Brunch scheduled for August, which will include a discussion about clear cooperation and listing policies.

From Clark Jones, RAPAC Chair
Clark promoted an October staycation raffle to boost participation in RAPAC. A $30 investment bought members who were present two entries, with proceeds supporting advocacy efforts. He emphasized the importance of reaching a 37% participation rate to maintain our association’s strong political voice.

Sponsorship and Community Support
CAAR is a sponsor of the Western Legends Heritage Festival and received two banquet tickets in return. The tickets were awarded via raffle at the event.

Closing Thoughts

Mayor Otto’s presentation reminded us that Payson’s future depends on intentional decisions today, from expanding housing options to streamlining development processes and seizing opportunities like the Arizona Alpine Trail. As Realtors, we have a front-row seat to these changes, and a voice in shaping how our community grows.

Let’s continue to stay engaged, ask questions, and bring solutions to the table. Thank you to everyone who joined us for another successful Business Breakfast.
